Remember those good old days when your dog ate your homework, and you would have to plead with your teacher in the morning and find an excuse; Well according to Kotaku, a one-year old puppy named Oscar happily ate his owner’s Xbox controller throughout the night. Through his joyful tirade and late night snack on plastic, Oscar managed to purchase 5,000 Xbox Live gamerpoints. It seems that the owner, Greg, must’ve left his Xbox signed in to Xbox Live, but what are the chances of this really happening? This all came to Greg’s attention with an early morning e-mail confirmation of his purchase. At first, he was probably pretty confused and thought it must’ve been some kind of mistake. He didn’t purchase any gamerpoints yesterday, so who did? Must’ve been the happy tailwagging Oscar, who left some evidence on the controller’s buttons.

“Chances are this is the first time an animal has managed to purchase Microsoft points on an Xbox 360. What are the odds that he chews on the right buttons, in the right order and moves the stick in the right directions to navigate and purchase points. 1 in a billion? More?”

Trying not to get too upset at his new puppy, who is sure to nibble his way through some more trouble in the upcoming years of doggy development and teething, Greg realized it may also be difficult to plead with Microsoft using this excuse. It’s hard enough to plead with your teacher when your dog actually eats your homework, but who is going to believe that your dog logged online and made a purchase using your credit card information? What are the chances of this really happening? The button combinations required to make the purchase are decently intricate, and it’s just through obvious chance and luck that this occurred. Trying to hold his anger back at his puppy, who spent $62.50 on his account without even knowing, Greg has decided to just use the points to purchase a new shiny, black (and now-needed) Xbox360 controller, and will probably use the rest of the points to purchase some games.
