Now steering the direction of the series, 343 worked with studio Certain Affinity to complete the Defiant map pack for Halo: Reach. Things like map design, gameplay balancing, and weapons placement are things many might take for granted. However, it’s clear the guys and gals now in charge of Halo take it all very seriously. The whole thing looks like a lot of hard work. Thankfully, it seems a lot of attention went into these maps, which is good considering how many people will play them. Check out the video below for a look behind the scenes at 343 Industries and see what it takes to make maps which continue on the Halo legacy.

The Defiant map pack includes Condemned, Highlands, and Unearthed and will be available for Halo: Reach in March 2011.

Everyone loves Halo. Halo3 continues to be the most popular online multiplayer game to date. We hope that Halo ODST will live up to the series standard of just being great fun-filled shooters that everyone loves to play. We have heard reports that Bungie is placing an even stronger focus on online play in this new installment. Firefight mode is being added, similar to what you could expect from Gears of War. Lets just hope the mission and storyline prove to be exciting as well. We are feeling something different coming along here, hopefully for the better.
