Everybody loved Doom. Then we all fell in love with Quake. After Quake there was Quake 2, which truly set the tone for multiplayer gaming on the PC. A few years later Quake 3 Arena came out which became one of the biggest games for competitive PC gaming for years. Well good news friends, Quake Live is out (in beta still) and it is 100% free and is 100% awesome for old Quake players and people new to Quake. They have a great matching system so that you never have to get owned your first few weeks playing. The game is very, very difficult because it requires a lot of focus and speed. On the plus side, the game is played IN your browser and runs insanely fast. The game is written off the best netcode available from Quake 3 Arena. Many old players stopped playing Q3 due to this update, but have no fear, this netcode is amazingly well written.

All in all, check out Quake Live. It is still in beta but it has a pretty sizable community full of people that really care about the game. The game does not have the BEST graphics, but they are damn good for a free game. The best part of the game that should attract players is how competitive the game is. They track full statistics for you and have easy features to find people on your same level. Have fun!
