Gamescom – Insomniac Reveals new Ratchet & Resistance 3

At this year’s Gamescom, Sony held a press conference to highlight some of the company’s biggest upcoming titles. They ended the show with a bang, bringing out Ted Price of Insomniac to deliver the goods on what fans can expect from the house that Clank built. The Burbank-based studio has several projects in the works but many were surprised to see the company’s newest studio in North Carolina reveal its first title, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. The game focuses heavily on co-op mechanics starring four characters from the Ratchet & Clank universe including our favorite heroic duo plus Captain Qwark and the delightfully devious Dr. Nefarious. From the looks of the debut trailer, the game’s co-op design incorporates all the puzzles, platforming, and off-beat weaponry that fans of the series have come to expect.
Not content with dropping just one megaton, Insomniac faked a stage-exit to deliver a “one more thing” announcement. The lights dimmed and on-screen flashed a live action teaser for the upcoming sequel, Resistance 3. Until now, nothing has been confirmed and apart from a few mysterious billboards, many fans were unsure if the game was even in the works. Resistance lovers can now rest easy as the new trailer packs quite a punch. Gone is the military squad of the last two games and, in its place, Insomniac looks like it’s taking heavy influences from games such as Left 4 Dead.
Both games are expected some time in 2011.
