Just when you’ve read the last “First!” comment you can stand and accepted that Facebook friend request from your grandmother, the internet has a way of reminding you why you fell in love with it in the first place. Gamervision, the same team behind the amazing Inglorious Plummers, has released their vision for the God of War movie. Or should we say, the God of War movie if it were done by Wes Anderson. The trailer is absolutely genius and, if anything, should be awarded for pointing out all of the overused tropes in almost every indy film of its type. For those who love independent movies such as Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, & Juno, and have a high tolerance for overt use of helvetica check out the video below.

Combining 8-bit graphics and textures with an FPS is not only genius- it’s vicious. The game is harder than the original Zelda II and that’s saying something. The Gnomon Gallery is highlighting the hard work done to bring life, character, sense of scale, and incredible imagination to the God of War universe. Utilizing classic Greek sensibilities combined with sheer brutality, the art demonstrates how much talent really permeates the game development space.

The Gnomon Gallery in Hollywood is known for putting on exhibits that highlight video game art and conceptual work having just recently displayed works by the famed talent behind Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2..

“The Art of God of War” is set to debut Saturday, May 29th.

For many years, the Boy Scouts of America has been shaping young lads into productive members of society by teaching vital skills such as plant identification and kindling collection. Finally, the BSA is going after something kids in the twenty-first century can put to good use! Kidding, of course. But in all seriousness, earning the videogame badge from the Scouts has less to do with your Modern Warfare 2 kill/death ratio and more with responsibly integrating the hobby into your life. Full details below for any badge-crazy Scouts eager to catch ‘em all:

If you think that driving in games like Grand Theft Auto or Forza 3 could improve your motoring skills in real life, think again. The team at Rooster Teeth Labs decided to see what it was like to operate a car from the third person perspective, the default view for driving in many video games. Turns out the task is much more difficult than you might imagine. By mounting a camera behind the vehicle and sending the feed to a monitor taking the place of the windshield, drivers got a full dose of a real-life GTA experience. See how they did in the video below.

Take one infinite loop ride? We’re currently saving up all the boxtops and soup can labels around so we can trade them in and snag one for ourselves. If you hear of a bank robbery in the near future involving a portal gun, don’t look at us.

This week marked the tenth anniversary of the Playstation 2′s Japanese launch. While North American gamers still had to wait a few more months to get their hands on Sony’s latest console, the release of the PS1 successor on March 4th, 2000 was a milestone for the gaming industry.

The PS2 has gone down in history as the best selling console of all time. Selling more than 140 million units worldwide, the PS2 is a sales juggernaut, a phenomenon that, in such a young industry, has almost no means of comparison. Considering Sony was up against seasoned industry darlings Nintendo and Sega, the PS2 was a success beyond anyone’s imagination.

The Sega Dreamcast famously launched on 9/9/99, almost a full year before the PS2. Likewise, the Nintendo 64 had already been out since 1996, with the Gamecube still a year away from release. Yet despite the competition, Sony’s console sequel broke through and changed gaming forever. It’s amazing to consider that, even after ten years on the market, the PS2 still charts in Japan above newer hardware like the PSP-Go.

Kotaku recently asked its readers to take a photo of their PS2. Some were in storage bins, some in closets, but many were still hooked up to their TVs, going strong. For younger gamers, the PS2 was the first console with which they made some of their greatest gaming memories. For others, some PS2 games represent the high-water mark for creativity and imagination. Games like ICO, Katamari Damacy, Metal Gear Solid 2, Gran Turismo 3, Grand Theft Auto III, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, the list goes on and on.

Yes folks, you heard the headlines right – an older woman is accused of meeting a teenager on the PlayStation Network, who then eloped and had sex with the desperate teenager. Annamay Alexander, is currently in pursuit by the Deltona Florida Police Department, as she is accused of both stalking the teenage victim and having intercourse with him. Upon further investigation, the detectives found out that the Deltona woman used an online interactive video game service (in this case the PlayStation network) to meet the teen online. After chatting with the teenager and supposedly exchanging text messages over the course of a few months, Annamay Alexander went to his house in which she is accused of various charged against the minor. She is currently on the run and is believed to be somewhere between Deltona and Oklahoma City.

According to the police reports, Annamay Alexnader had told the teen that she wanted to be his wife, and that she even went as far to say that she would leave her family and her life to start a new one with the teenage man. A very unique situation, as the two haven’t met prior except during their online time via the PlayStation Network. As most of us gamers know, with the recent advancements put forth in Sony’s Playstation Network, it is now easier than ever to chat with other gamers, send pictures and messages and communicate in a variety of other ways. With the advent of PlayStation Home, gamers are able to plug into a virtual network in which they can build their own homes and ‘virtual lives’, in which they can meet folk from all around the world. In this case, Annamay is accused of sending the teenage victim lewd pictures of herself, as well as messages that included phrases such as – “My body is yours” and “I love you and we are going to get married”.

Annamay Alexander

After some questioning, it’s been pretty evident that Annamay’s family is somewhat embarrassed by the situation, as she has left her three children to burden the situation. The teenager himself, whose name has remained disclosed for his protection and privacy had told his own mother of the situation and what had happened. As any mother would do, she immediatley notified the local police to put an end to this situation.

As a lesson to us all, and parents especially, it is an ever-growing and ever-important issue to know who you are dealing with online. Individuals can easily impersonate others, communicate false information, and flat out lie to accomplish their goals. In this case the goal is somewhat difficult to determine – was this a devious sex act? Or did Annamay actually like this boy whom she never met before? The truth will be hard to come by, as Facebook and MySpace have had similar situations in the past; The PlayStation Network and XboxLive are now another target for victims.
